Thanks for everyone's help! I finally found the last key to our problem. The Host table on the IBM i had an entry for our domain pointing to itself. The SMTP server (which must be running to deliver mail) was referencing the Host table to determine where to send the message. I removed the entry and then the system was able to use the FWDHUBSVR. All is fantastic now!

That may help, not sure. How about just removing all the local users from
which ever local user directory you are using? Or change to one with no local
users.

HI Rob( & Kevin),

I'm really not the system administration, I just happen to have the most
experience on IBM i. So please forgive me if some of these questions should
be obvious.

Thanks for your quick replies. I've been rather swamped. We have
FWDHUBSVR (& MAILROUTER set to our Exchange server. However, it
seems the mail is being delivered to the old local IBM i folders for the POP3
server. I think both the SMPT server and POP server are still running on the
IBM i. Should I end these servers? I would think we should at least end the
POP server.

Normally this is done by relaying through someone. You do a
CHGSMTPA<F4> and replace the value in Forwarding mailhub server . . .
FWDHUBSVR

Often this requires you to change the server you are forwarding though
to have them add your IP address to their permit list. You'll need to
provide that information to them.

We recently went from using a hodgepodge of the IBM i POP3 and SMTP
servers along with some bits of MS-Exchange to a full-blown
MS-Exchange set up. Most everything seems to be working very well.
However, we have some IBM I programs which generate an email. What
I'm
having trouble with is how do I get the IBM i to send the message to our
Exchange server?

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this working?

Thanks,
