Readability of the instructions trumps compactness any day!

It's the APL syndrome-- APL has been classed as a 'write-only' language-- once a compact APL statement is written, if it's complicated to any degree, you'll never figure out what it does 24 hours later!

I'd much prefer to see multiple instructions that are easy to read.
