the plugin /CLDownload may be what you are thinking about.

ftp://public.dhe.ibm.com/as400/products/clientaccess/solutions/QuickStartGuide_en.html

9.1.17 CLDownload
/PLUGIN=cldownload /system=<system>
[/userid=<userid>]
{/hostfile=<library/filename> | /sql="statement"}
{/clientfile=<path><filename>.<extension> | /display}
[/<options>]

/userid - user id to use when connecting to the target system
/hostfile - Source library and file on the IBM i system for the download
e.g. /hostfile=QIWS/QCUSTCDT
/sql - specify an SQL statement
e.g. /sql="select CUSNUM,LSTNAM,INIT,ZIPCOD from QIWS/QCUSTCDT"
/clientfile - Target file location for the download.
The format of this file will be determined by the specified
extension (for example, .csv .ods .xlsx .xlsx)
If the file extension is not specified or is of a type
not supported, the data will be formatted as a .csv file
/display - write the output to the terminal

Valid options are:
/colheadings=<1/0> - Include column headings as the first row. When specified, the column names will be the heading.
/usecollabels - Use column labels for the heading.

The plugin enables the user to run a simple download of an entire file from the command line.

I don't know of any way to `INSERT INTO` a IFS stream file...

There's a couple of ways to redirect the output of a `SELECT` into a stream
file
- oldschool, q-shell db2 command,
qsh cmd('db2 \"select * from lib.table\" > /home/myuser/myifsfile.txt')
- newschool (I think), ACS Run SQL scripts running on the i itself.

Need to find a link for the second option.

Looking for some help on the proper syntax for SQL Insert Into statement.
Trying to write a CLP to extract some audit journal entries and then copy
them out to the IFS for analysis.

I have the RUNSQL statement below, the slashes "/" in the IFS file path
are giving me a problem.
I'm trying to avoid creating a PF and then running CPYTOIMPF. Thanks for
your help.

RUNSQL SQL('INSERT INTO /home/gcaudit/A0825ZC.csv SELECT ZCTSTP,
ZCJOB, ZCUSER, ZCNBR, ZCPGM, ZCPGMLIB, ZCUSPF, ZCSYNM,
ZCRADR, ZCONAM, ZCOLIB, ZCOTYP, ZCACTP, ZCODTA, ZCPNM
FROM GCAUDIT.A0825ZC') NAMING(*SQL)

Token / was not valid. Valid tokens: <IDENTIFIER>.
RUNSQLSTM or RUNSQL command failed.

Thank you,
