well - it is not that surprisingly.

„adding cheap storage“ is not the primary goal of IBM when designing and qualifying the system environment;
as IBM i is primarily designed for enterprise use. So FC attached storage is the way to go,
or using iSCSI attached storage using VIOS.

And there is lots of more work to be done which has a higher priority.
