We moved to the SSH method from RUNRMTCMD years ago. I wrote an article on this.
We knew the old Client Access wasn't supported on the new servers. STRPCO was not an option since the processes were not going to the same PC (if even a PC).
Instead of trying things like burning incense to Mayan gods and hoping for the best we just moved on to SSH.
It's 2021, Windows 2012 is not bleeding edge.
