What does the new path need to look like? PATH is most definitely used when you get into anything on the unixy side of the box. If you need a different path for some reason there are a few options. You can change the default path. If there are no issues with duplicate programs etc, then this can work. The usual situation however, at least for me, is that anything that I run has a program in front of it that sets everything the way it needs to be. Although this doesn't set the path, something like this.
