With the native server we had it happening all the time with any gmail (or gmail hosted) accounts. I've heard people say the same thing about MS servers.

If I recall it has to do with the way the server and DNS is configured.

We gave up trying to configure the IBM i server to do it and use a PHP mailer now.

Brad Stone probably knows as much or more about this issue as anyone.
