Have you looked at binder level language to help with this? It's really so incredibly simple you may find it hard to grasp as nothing can be that simple, right? After attending multiple sessions at COMMON and getting a redbook signed by Jon Paris with "I thought you knew this stuff" it finally sunk in how simple it was. Although I did see some post from someone who felt that binder language is the tool of the devil and one should do what you did.
But I think your question was why did it generate a new signature when, in your belief, your changes should not have affected the hashing algorithm used to generate the signature. That's a little deeper dive than I'm interested in on a Monday morning.
