Apparently removing the column LABEL that got automatically created, reverts Heading Line 1 back to the short name.
Ex: LABEL ON COLUMN QGPL.DWTEST (WORK_ORDER_NUMBER IS '')
For future reference it appears the "Heading Line 1" field seems to drive SQL results.
Maybe a bug ? Maybe a feature ?
Looks like I'll be writing some ugly AS SQL statements....

subject: RE: Question on Long Column Names Returned from SQL Query. I
Want Short Column Names
Here's an example if anyone else wants to try this. I'm on V7R3 and maybe not at latest PTF level as well :
CREATE TABLE QGPL/DWTEST (
WORK_ORDER_NUMBER FOR COLUMN FTWON NUMERIC(9, 2) NOT NULL DEFAULT 0,
PRIMARY KEY( WORK_ORDER_NUMBER ) )
RCDFMT DWSERVICE ;
Tests:
If you do SELECT * FROM QGPL/DWTEST, do you see: WORK_ORDER_NUMBER as the heading ? ( I do)
If you do SELECT WORK_ORDER_NUMBER FROM QGPL/DWTEST, do you see: WORK_ORDER_NUMBER as the heading ? ( I do)
If you do SELECT FTWON FROM QGPL/DWTEST, do you see: WORK_ORDER_NUMBER as the heading ? ( I do. It should show FTWON, but doesn't)
I get the same results in ODBC, STRSQL or ACS SQL.
