Bad news:
Yeah, ESS is where I thought I went originally. But now I no longer see the product listed (5765-HMV Power HMC Virtual Software Appliance for x86 HW). Sigh, it'll take days/weeks to straighten that out.
Good news:
But I found this article which pointed me to where I can find the files: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/hmc-v9-network-installation-images-and-installation-instructions
Bad news:
The img2a and img3a files refused to checksum
Good news:
Changing the transfer type to binary (after trying for two hours) passed the checksum issue.
Bad news:
Got an error when I went to upgrade: "A pre-requisite iFix 'MH01857' required for upgrade is missing."
End of job....I had downloaded and applied the iFix MH01857. The original HMC version was v9r1 service pack 135 build level 1803052221. Now it's at v9r1 service pack 942 build level 2109060506. It appears to no longer be talking to the FSP? Authentication error.
Not sure what issue to tackle first. How can you see what PTF's have been applied to the HMC? I could have sworn that MH01857 was installed successfully, but it seems not...
