I recall a Tim Rowe webinar not long ago about the new Navigator. Someone asked if it would run on a V7R2 partition with the latest Nav PTF's. The answer was no.
You can use V7R3 or R4 and the new Nav to look "backwards" at a V7R2 partition but again, it won't run on a V7R2 system.

I had someone reply offlist. He's having issues replying onlist. Basically he was saying:
"Since we are still running Domino 9.0.1FP2 we are still running IBM i 7.2 on a 9009-42A. We are trying to upgrade but want to ensure that we maintain compatibility with Domino. Domino has many customizations. We also plan on upgrading HMC code on our 7063-CR1 and firmware.
Does this statement of direction about the disabling, and later removal, of heritage web navigator apply to 7.2 also?"

I'd like to reply in parts.
Part one: Does this statement of direction about the disabling, and later removal, of heritage web navigator apply to 7.2 also?

I did some searching and, rather to my surprise, IBM is still coming out with group PTF's for 7.2. In fact, when they issued a group ptf for 7.4 and 7.3 for http on 2021-12-29 for the log4j issue they also issued one for 7.2.
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-i-group-ptfs-level

However I do not believe they are removing the heritage Navigator for 7.2.
One: While 7.2 is mentioned multiple times in the announcement it is not listed in the Statement of Direction (B).
Two: I do not think they are even coming out with the new Navigator for 7.2: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6483299 But you're welcome to check if the 2002/Navigator url works for you at 7.2 after applying the latest group ptf's for http as directed.

Again I am but a mere customer of IBM's and do not speak for them.

Lots of other stuff listed at:

Part two: Domino concerns when upgrading from 7.2.

We too are a Domino shop. With heavy customizations. HCL provides a list of supported Domino and IBM i combinations. Originally when we went to 7.4 we had to wait quite awhile to find a version of Domino compatible with 7.4. They eventually came out with a 10.0.1FP4 or some FP like that which was only for IBM i. I don't even think that special FP is even available anymore. But we ran it for a long time. We're now at 12.0. Yes, 12.0 did have us concerned with some of the special customizations. We had to check our code for some of the concerns mentioned in the 12.0 documentation (whatever Domino calls their MTU).
I would make sure that you have Java 8 for 7.2 which you can download at ESS on your IBM i. Sometimes the Java versions available at ESS are newer and just not available on the physical media some may have.

Domino supports multiversioning. You should be able to run a newer version of Domino alongside your older version of Domino. Then it becomes easy to create another domino server like the first. You can "create replica" from one server to the other to get your databases over to the new server. You can even set up clustering. This should allow for adequate testing.

Part Three: hmc/firmware upgrades.
Basically make sure that your upgrading just keeps compatibility between your HMC and the firmware on your Power system. You do not want to upgrade one to the point where it is no longer compatible with the other. We had quite a thread on this recently.
IBM's Fix Level Recommendation Tool, or FLRT, will help you with this.
There's also a chart of compatibility between firmware and hmc code.
See the following for some nice links.
