We've had tremendous surplus capacity since IBM forced us to upgrade
iSeries to Power7. When we had the go to Power9, the surplus increased
exponentially.

The system was running normally with all services up.

I knew enough about the batch job in question that I scrolled thru QINTER
jobs, ending likely culprits. That released the object lock and the batch
job was able to retry and complete.

Something funky going on for sure.

Thanks

I would have to think that if the stuff under the covers was locked then
either your system is constrained to the point where you have some serious
issues or you have your system in a quasi restricted state but you are
trying to monitor the progress of a save or some such thing.
