IIRC the only option is to use disk mirroring (and then split up)
to have a copy of a working load source including the MULIC.

If I remember it correctly, you could only order those tapes from IBM. That said, I also remember doing “21” restore without the MULIC tape as well. I think it was only needed when the load source drive was replaced. So, you are right on with your concerns.

I do not believe there was a way to create one from the system. DST was not nearly as functional then as it is now.
