The History Log may help you identify when the Tape device was used. A
message is sent to the History Log when Libraries or Objects are saved or
restored. However, the messages don't include the Device ID. That won't be
an issue if you only have one tape device. Note, Save and Restores can also
be to Save Files so you will have to analyze the messages to see if it could
be from the device you're interested in.

Some sample message ID's. There are probably more.
CPC3722 1 objects saved from library LIBRARY.
CPC3703 1 objects restored from LIBRARY to LIBRARY
