This is something I cover in my session 'Clean up your IBM i Disk 
space.' I'll be presenting it at 4PM on Next Tuesday at POWERUp! 2022.

However just in case one of you wont' be there the issue is that you do 
NOT get the disk space back by a simple INZTAP for a tape type catalog 
entry.  Instead you must delete the tape from the catalog and build a 
new one.

Of course it's your call either way.

One school of thought is "I WANT MY DISK SPACE BACK!" And that's not bad 
thinking of course.

The other school says: "No, I want to have that space allocated so that 
when I do the backup that uses that tape I can be assured it won't 
overfill the disk."
