We were going through this at my employer just when I retired on 12/31. They were moving/consolidating data centers.
What a nightmare. Multiple tables created over the years for IP info, hardcoded in programs, GoAnywhere configs, FTP scripts.... just a mess.
Don't forget that you may have IP addresses from your organization that have been whitelisted by various external vendors. Double in our case with the HA system.

We decided that on the inbound connections that, with a few hundred users, we weren't going to check them all but let them suffer for using IP addresses instead of host names.
Since we also do quarterly switches which have them going on a different machine in a different subnet and all it helps to automatically kneecap those who use IP addresses.
