I have a couple of lpars running 7.5. It's been out since 2022-05-10.
I always carefully read the MTU and stuff. Actually this is one of the cleanest releases in a long time. (Although I'm sure a lot of pro new release people always say that.) I'm saying that because I have Domino running on it. Not officially but that last several releases you had to wait months for Domino to run at all. But that was ALWAYS because the last few releases either dropped a java version or renamed it from 5761JV1 to 5770JV1 and there are some stupid hard code checks for this stuff. No big java changes this time.
Trust me, I've pushed the limits beyond the breaking point a few times.
Some vendors are already issuing statements of support for IBM i 7.5 at:
https://wiki.midrange.com/index.php/Vendor_Statements_of_Support
I do have some vendors I use coming up with delay excuses.
Gotcha's? All these are covered in either the
Memo To Users
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.5?topic=documentation-memo-users
or the
Planning site at
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6554580
Basically you have to be running a P9 or higher. We are scrambling to replace a P8. We knew this was coming. I dinged IBM hard to get this site updated:
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/687283
Earlier today I listed a PTF to get which is not yet on a cume or group.
I'd like to upgrade a few more lpars next week but I have to wait for the meeting with the boss to go further.
If you like to wait until x cume or y group level you can check those at
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-i-group-ptfs-level
IDK if any of the cloud providers have 7.5 available yet. I fail to see 7.5 listed at
https://iinthecloud.com/idev-cloud/
