Jack,

I know that helps maintain your "Champion" Status,

Jim, the Champions program knows nothing about my survey answers. That's
not how they work.

My champion status is maintained by 30 or so appearances and multiple blog
articles per year, unpaid, providing guidance on IBM solutions to an
international audience, in addition to open source code contributions to
IBM i and IBM Q.
I also served this year one term as elected Secretary of the OpenQASM 3.0
Technical Steering Committee.
I'll be giving 3 sessions on Merlin at COMMON NAViGATE.

No, I don't think patting the rank and file on the back by sweet survey
responses enters into it at all :)

but sometimes IBM needs to hear the truth.

I'm with ya, Jim. And if you watch my postings on this list, you know I fry
IBM's dag-blammed hides on occasion myself, esp. w/r/t Rational Developer
for IBM i.

IBM does from time to time need tough love, but it is love, and I love
working with IBM teams.

- IBM has the most comprehensive view of business computing in the
industry.
- IBM has the finest R&D organization in the industry.
- IBM approaches software like Real Programmers (often to the dismay of
the casual user).
- IBMers are *extraordinariy productive *individuals and are a pleasure
to work with.

I could have ended up as a Microsoft or Oracle weenie, or a SalesForce
business partner. Or I could have turned to drink and slept in the gutter.

But NO! I had the wonderful fortune to be caught up into the IBM world when
I stumbled into consulting for them about 30 years ago, and it's been love
ever since, albeit with intermittent spats of throwing crockery at one
another :)
