We have an older HMC (7042-CR4) and have a Q about creating/maintaining
persistent console sessions.
The HMC and two IBM I systems are in a rack at a far away data center
(somewhere in the cloud).
We have VPN access to the HMC for system management of three LPARs on
two systems.
Do the console sessions have to be created locally on the HMC as shared
sessions to be persistent?
Yes, we can use ACS to connect to a console session on an LPAR.
But what happens if we lose our VPN connection.
It appears that the console session is lost.
If we create the console sessions as shared from the HMC itself in the
data center then they remain no matter if we lose our connection or not.
What is best practice here?
Thx,
Jerry
