Basically that allows you to determine when access paths get rebuilt. Right away, or delayed, meaning when they are first used. I believe you could also order them by a priority. That came in real handy when we needed to get the paths used in the on line applications built before users signed on, then do the batch related access paths later.

We always kept the system in a restricted state until they were done, first to make it a shade faster, and to keep the users from complaining about the sometimes abysmal response times they would get as an access path completed rebuilding.
