They're ready. The recent hiring actions at the world's biggest consumers
of web developer hours have left the entry-level folks in a very depressed
job market.
I have more people each month for my once-a-month free IBM i online class.
They're all asking, "If I learn COBOL or RPG, are there jobs?"
It's time to reach out and consider hiring raw recruits and training them.
They often have mad web skills you'll never teach the senior IBM i folk.
If your org is starving for person power, don't just sit there, hire!

If only it were that simple hua? I'm sorry but it isn't just simply
about hiring them. You have to find young people who want to work on
this platform, where there is a HUGE amount of other technology that
they can choose to work with.

Questioner: “How do we bring young people into the platform?”
Scott Klement: "Hire them."
