Bryan,
I wonder if the binary RPM would install on AIX since it's possibly compatible.
Worth a try if you need a terminal based emulator and don't want to try building it.

IBM has compiled tn5250 that runs in PASE on IBM i.
so maybe, if so inclined, you could grab the source here:
https://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/ibmi/products/pase/rpms/repo/src/
and give compiling a go.
