We always make the field where the scanner is typing larger than our
longest expected scan. Then we can process it accordingly. The scanners are
configured to press enter after each scan.

Hello All,

I have a program that accepts a 16 digit scan. But I have barcodes that
are greater than 16 digits being scanned. Do you know of a way to ignore
the trailing characters after the 16 digits?. I am finding that the
program has no control over the trailing characters and the screen stays in
a lock state until it is cleared. (like there is an error). I am
wondering how a 16 byte field can carry more than its actual length. Any
help and suggestions would be appreciated - thanks in advance.

Scan the barcode

Screen after the scan, causing the user to clear the message.
