The simple answer is nothing. CCSID 37 should be a full Latin-1 character set which includes the majority of normal accented characters such as à. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_page_37 <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_page_37> for a full list. There has to be an IBM site that has it too but ...

Have you tried storing such characters in regular char fields? We do it all the time.
