I was looking at my setting and wondered about the options at the bottom of the page. Should the first one be set to 1=Yes ?

If you're using a HMC always make it a "shared session" and never a "dedicated session".

Did you configure "Console Takeover"?
STRSST
8. Work with Service Tools Server Security and Devices 2. Select console Allow console recovery and console can be taken
over by another console . . . . . . . . . 1 1=Yes, 2=No

I HIGHLY recommend 1=Yes.

I had one person on the list who did not like this as whenever you start the console the user has to also enter a SST user id and password. I guess it's easy to create a SST user with just enough authority to do this. It's easy enough to update run documentation for the person doing the backup from the system console to handle this. But to each his own.

For example, we have an IT guy who runs our month end process from his home. Occasionally his comm line drops. If he runs the process from the remote console it's no problem.

With Console Takeover enabled I can reboot my HMC during a long running full system save and it will not be interrupted.
