Have you tried using something like OVRDBF FILE(LSOUTPUT)
TOFILE(QTEMP/LSOUTPUT)?
I recall using OVRDBF successfully with the DIR (DISK FTP subcommand.

I need a method to list the contents of a directory (windows in thiscase).
We only use ftp from the ibm i to network storage. so we are using thels
command putting the file to disk. we first do a chgcurlib(KGPLIB) in thescan>,
CL, then in the ftp script we do a cd <the path and directory to
then a ls (disk.programs.
per the manual:
the (disk will _only_ output to *CURLIB/lsoutput.lsoutput or
*CURLIB/diroutput.diroutput
creating different libraries?
locking that lsoutput file would mean to add code to over a dozen
is there altogether a different method to do this?--
