That sounds really familiar. Read about it, sounded cool, had issues and
abandoned it.
I did get back to it later. I set up all the internal stuff and all was
well for a few years.
After awhile I started running into issues. Maybe it was a config change
after a Power migration or some such thing. Some of the issues included:
1 - The same CD/image catalog, volume id was trying to appear twice. Once
in the image catalog and another as a separate virtual optical served from
the NFS hosting lpar of IBMi.
2 - If you tried loading up PTF's on multiple lpars at once and one lpar
wanted image 2 and the other one was on image 4 there was contention.
Space isn't an issue in my case and it was easier for me to abandon it
again.
