Have you tried configuring a 5250-emulation printer session with iACS?
I think this should work. Just make sure you specify Host Print Transform
= *yes.
This will prompt you with a library and an object name which is a
Workstation Customization object of type *WSCST.

Follow these instructions to obtain such an object:
1. Run this command, making sure the source file exists, or you can specify
your own:

RTVWSCST DEVTYPE(*TRANSFORM) MFRTYPMDL(*EPDFX8000) SRCMBR(EPDFX8000)
SRCFILE(QGPL/QTXTSRC) TEXT('WSCST Source for EPDFX8000')

En Epson DFX8000 is the closest printer model for your EPSON DFX8500 I
think.

2. CRTWSCST WSCST(QGPL/EPDFX8000) TEXT('WSCST for EPSON DFX8000')
SRCFILE(QGPL/QTXTSRC)
This command creates the Workstation Customization object that you need in
your 5250 printer session.

3. Make sure you name your virtual printer device, say, EPDFX8000, and you
associate this printer session to your Server's printer device for it.
4. After configuring your 5250 printer session/device, it should be created
if your system settings allows it.

Go ahead and send some spooled file test output to this device/outq and
make sure it works.
Then send your AFPDS printer output to this printer and let us know how it
goes :-D

HTH.

Is it possible to print AFPDS/Barcodes to a dot matrix printer? We did it a
long time ago IIRC.

We have the above printer hooked to a TPLink parallel printer server. All
my normal tricks to get a printer configured aren't working.

If anyone has a similar configuration I'd appreciate any help getting this
printing AFPDS.
