Perhaps you have already run the SQL once . By default cursors now keep the
“file” open. You can change that by overriding settings in qaqqini.

You can always make an alias so you don’t need the OVRDBF

Nothing. I'm 100% sure you remember wrong.

Strsql uses the OS integrated SQL engine, while OVRDBF affects opened
files of an application. A completely different thing.
