Hi Tim

So far as I know, there is no such thing as an "index table" on IBM i. I could not find that term in the SQL Reference for version 7.5.

Every index is built over a specific table - here is a bit from the SQL Reference - "An index is a set of pointers to rows of a base table. Each index is based on the values of data in one or more table columns. An index is an object that is separate from the data in the table."

So, by definition, every index is built over a specific table.

Now a DDS JOIN logical file can have key fields. That sounds like what you want. I don't think there is an equivalent SQL object type.

Cheers
Vern
