It has been ages, but, yeah, our system came pre-installed. That was V5R?. There was a user setup process, but not for the O/S itself. I did have to change the QSECOFR password (first time that was required) and do a few other things.

I may be misremembering this, but I am pretty sure that the last two (2) S/36s I ordered came pre-installed.

have a certain level of IBM i installed.
I guess, unless you tend to order new systems on a frequent basis, trying
