* Don't ask for IBM Power resources as you were running on premise, or
you will find it could be really expensive. Talk to an IBM BP with
experience and ask for a real sizing. Remember, you can pay for your CPU
spikes when required.
* Bandwidth (data egress) can cost you a lot of money. Sometimes it's
better to put all the ecosystem in the same cloud.
* Sometimes an isolated LPAR is costly and all the environment makes sense.
* The sweet spot is below 4 CPUs. Remember, most clouds use Sx22 (P10)
and then Sx24 and/or Ex90 for larger workloads. If you really need more
than 4 CPUs in one LPAR, you should take a deep breath.
* Disks can be really fast. ie: IBM Cloud Power Virtual Server provides
different disk Tiers, up to 25 IOPS/GB. This means 25,000 IOPS/TB. When
switching from internal mechanical disks you can reduce the CPU count by
1/2 as a starting point for a PoC, before asking for your quote.
