It means that you should probably create the empty box first and then let
the command replace it. The ">" character forces a replace, and a ">>"
appends to what there is.
Anyway, now you guys are clear, conduct a scream test and see.

Have you tried for instance (it occurs to me, i have not tried it):
DIR QNTC\ /b /ad > /QSYS.LIB./SOMELIB.LIB/SOMEFILE.FILE/SOMEMBR.MBR

Not sure if it should be /QNTC\. If you get something as above, then
I guess it's OK.
