Hi Don,

it depends on how this information / these documents should be accessed.

If this should go into the direction of a searchable knowledge database, a "wiki" (aka WikiWiki) is used often today. Whether you use a full blown wiki system like MediaWiki (the base of Wikipedia) or something smaller (like GitHub Wikis) is more or less depending on what you need. In essence you have to "translate" the documents into the "Wiki language" - that is mostly Markdown - and you can add pictures, links, etc.

If you want to have a searchable document database, Omnifind is not bad and very fast. And Omnifind is a (once paid now free) feature of IBM i and fully integrated with Db2 for i. You can index database columns (char, clob or blob) and also externally stored documents (PDF, Word, Text, etc) - and search for words and expressions.

It really depends on what you want to do, and from where. If you want to do the full-text search from and application program, Omnifind is a good choice. If you want some Wikipedia-like experience, go for some Wiki system.

We use both - Omnifind for application search and archived documents, and a Wiki knowledge base for developers and support.

If anyone has time I would be interested in how/where you save information that is easily accessible and fully indexed.

I previously used a Lotus/HCL Domino document database which was excellent as it had full text indexing and also indexed attached documents. Unfortunately for this requirement they have ruled this is not an option.

Just interested in what others are using and if any are using AI to build the index.

And lastly this would need to be open source or just about free 😊

Thank you in advance for any feedback
