I actually played with it a little maybe 25 years ago - maybe more than that.
Sadly the IBM i implementation is severely crippled, compared to the one available on MVS.
I also tried to tinker with it a bit with REXX — eliminating the compilation step for quicker trial and error. I failed but I can't recall the details. Too long ago. I found a 16 Bit Windows version of IDEAcomm that can emulate a 5252 model 2 with according graphics capabilities. Brr, what a botchy application. Runs on Win2k…
I know someone who started to add GDDM support to tn5250j. :-)
