Hi Patrik

I hope no one thinks I am advocating for the return of GDDM - by the way, progress bars were one of the things we could do with GDDM.

Before 7.6 came out, while IBM was planning what should be dropped, I was part of a survey for that. I stated clearly that GDDM is not needed on the IBM i.

James! Do you mean you never used GDDM?
I actually played with it a little maybe 25 years ago - maybe more than that.
Sorry for line bucking, but…

Sadly the IBM i implementation is severely crippled, compared to the one available on MVS.

I also tried to tinker with it a bit with REXX — eliminating the compilation step for quicker trial and error. I failed but I can't recall the details. Too long ago. I found a 16 Bit Windows version of IDEAcomm that can emulate a 5252 model 2 with according graphics capabilities. Brr, what a botchy application. Runs on Win2k…

I know someone who started to add GDDM support to tn5250j. :-)

https://github.com/rogueai/tn5250j

It had some interesting ways to represent things like progress bars with reverse image glyphs, I think - kind of neat once upon...
Uhm, is this related to GDDM?

:wq! PoC
