The reality is that what the i has above its competitors is NOT the latest, greatest UI. Having an old utility on the system that just helps us do a quick task better is not a detriment to the platform. Most or all Unix based systems have text based utilities dating back decades, as well. If displaying a DSPF in SDA (or any other green screen utility) is the determinant for a company making a major platform decision, then there are much bigger problems in that process!

The above is especially pertinent, since there's no good direct replacement yet.

I think it will be a PIA not having it.
But do you think that things/discussions like this are what give our system
the reputation for being a 'legacy platform' , ' an outdated technology
from the 1980s that somehow still exists'.
Do you know of any one working on this platform that is not approaching
retirement?
I got those quotes from AI.

I was wondering the same thing myself - why can't they just leave it
there, unsupported?

I still have my V7R4 Power 8 system. Good idea. I won't break out the
thermite just yet. ;)

I don't see why they just can't leave it there and just not support it.

They're literally removing SDA? Wow.... how will people support
legacy
apps?

Maybe get an older machine with an older release for such cases?
