I don't know about anitmatter! Yes, those commands and APIs exist. If you are using embedded SQL in RPGLE, GET DIAGNOSTICS is recommended, it is a standard SQL-ish methodology, so far as I know.

And if you *are* writing an SQL procedure, not a external one, it's a better option.
