Got a new laptop, wondering which Java provider and version I should
install. From the ACS docs, the options are:
https://developer.ibm.com/languages/java/semeru-runtimes/downloads/
https://aws.amazon.com/corretto/
https://adoptopenjdk.net/
http://openjdk.java.net/install
Can someone confirm that the recommendation in the ACS docs for corretto
applies only to Macs?
Note: ACS may not be able to locate Java 8 on macOS 11.0 Big Sur. We
recommend installing Java 11 from
https://aws.amazon.com/corretto/ since
that version contains the most recent updates for keystroke issues.
Looks like I was running on the old laptop...
openjdk 21.0.2 2024-01-16 LTS
OpenJDK Runtime Environment Microsoft-8905927 (build 21.0.2+13-LTS)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM Microsoft-8905927 (build 21.0.2+13-LTS, mixed
mode, sharing)
Which honestly is a bit of a surprise, as I recall installing IBM's
Semeru. (And it still appears in under Control Panel-->Programs)
Maybe I'm overthinking it...
