Maybe it's me but someone help me out here ...
I'm on ACS 1.1.9.8 with ethe latest Ibm Semeru java version. As up to date as can be.
I do not most of the values mentioned in these threads about font value.
Example: "jetbrains mono" ....
Someone please tell me where you are seeing values like this?
I go to edit, preferences, appearance, font ....
Or communications, configure, screen, font ...
This is with 5250 screens open from ACS.
What am I missing in this discussion?
Respectfully,
Michael Mayer

Do you do this via the Communication menu, Configure, Font (under Screen)? If I change the font and click OK, I'll get "ACS0021 - The profile will change and end the current session communication if you proceed. Are you sure?" As far as I can remember, it has always had this behavior.

Also, I would like to suggest that changing fonts SHOULD NOT require
ending and restarting the session. C'mon IBM! An "Apply"
button or preview pane would be helpful as well.
End & restart?
Although it's kind of cumbersome, I can change the font and click OK to see the new font.
To change it again, I just need to go back into preferences.
I've never had to restart the emulator to see the new font.

You had to get me going on this...to name a few besides the usual Consolas and :
Andale Mono
Monspaced
Noto Mono
Cousine
IBM Plex Mono
Input Mono
Jetbrains Mono
Menlo
Victor Mono (in RDI too)
YMMV as a function of your display's resolution and the size of your 5250 windows. In my 30" display, I snap-fit four windows with good 132-column resolution using Noto Mono. I change fonts like Elizabeth Taylor changes last names (Al Barsa stole that from me); it's a sickness.
I don't spend much time in the 80-column world; only IBM makes me go there <sigh>. The fonts above work fine in *DS3 mode but you'll want to experiment with *DS4 fonts to get the right look.

Had some laptop issues last week that mucked around with my external

Wondering if anyone found a font they really like that scales well
between
24x80 and 27x132.

Ah, this is a sensitive subject for me, because I put a huge premium
on the visual quality and legibility of my 5250 sessions (and anything
else I have to work with for long stretches at a time). And I have
apparently weird tastes, and my eyes seem to work differently than
many if not most other folks. I've literally never seen anyone else
with a setup like mine. (And I don't think I've ever even *heard* of
anyone that does what I do.)
That being said, I do have a recommendation, which I think should work
for most people, even with "conventional" setups (and eyes): JetBrains
Mono. I use that for both my 5250 sessions (in ACS) and VS Code.

I use Edit -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Font
Change takes effect as soon as I click OK. No restart required.
