CoDe/400: I was a fan as well. My understanding is that it was more of a
proof-of-concept project that accidentally was released as a program
product. It was buggy, hard to support, and impossible to scale...but it
worked and it was a far more enjoyable dev experience than SEU (don't get
me wrong: SEU has stood the test of time). WDSCi was equally buggy when it
was shipped but I think there was a sense of urgency WRT retiring CoDe/400
so those resources could focus on WSDCi.

I was running Code/400 on Win 10, so I figured it would run on Win 11.

I wish IBM had continued to improve Code/400 instead of going the RDi
route, but oh well.

For screen creations and editing, I still use WebSphere Code and Visual

I find it much easier to use than the RDi Eclipse screen editor. (I do
use Eclipse for RPG/CL code editing)

I will miss SDA.

I’m not worried about me accessing SDA. I have my ways :-)

This is more about deprecating things from the OS that don’t really need
to go away for any particular reason.

Might as well just throw out all 5250 development then :-)

Being on the cloud now and using SDA for a lot of applications, my best
bet is to keep my Power 8 for anything related to SDA.

I wonder if you could get a virtual loaner (VLP) from time to time from
IBM @ V7R5 or lower just to do a little SDA work now and then. Of course,
the first step would be finding if they still do VLP, and then finding the
site as they like to change endpoints every 2 weeks.
