subject: Re: SAVSYS without TAP01
Hello,

We have one old IBM i (V7R1); unfortunately the TAP01 is not working .
question: is there anyway to run e SAVSYS in other device ? (and for
the possible restore ???)
Thanks in advance
I'm using a remote image catalog on a Linux based NFS server. I've extensively documented my method here:
https://try-as400.pocnet.net/wiki/Using_NFS-based_image_catalogs_for_backups
I have not yet taken time to verify a full system restore. In theory it should be possible to transfer a "full save" image to the proper directory on a HMC, and attach this to the virtual optical device being exposed to the appropriate LPAR, and run a D-mode IPL from this device. The rest of the restore process is outlined in the appropriate IBM documentation.
