Thanks for the responses. We finally figured out the problem. The profile that was not working didn’t have a password assigned. Another process that was running under the same profile was also failing, but that process actually put an error message in a log file stating that the profile needed a password. After adding the password, I thought I would test the original process that was failing and sure enough that fixed it.

Are both profiles able to do things on the same spool file outside of that
software? For example, DSPSPLF, CPYSPLF, etc?

Hi,

We have a third party product that uses Java to retrieve data from a spool
file. If I run the process under PROFILEA, it works. If I run it under
PROFILEB, it doesn't. When I say it doesn't work, I mean it is unable
retrieve the data from the spool file. The process doesn't generate any
error messages when it doesn't work. I have checked the audit journal for
AF entries and nothing shows up for PROFILEB. We also have an exit point
solution in place (SafeNet), and there are no errors there either. So far,
the vendor won't tell me what method they are using to retrieve the spool
data. I'm talking to a support person and they don't know the details of
the process either.

Anyone have any ideas where else I could look for possible error messages?
