I would say that at this time, RDi has the better option for designing 5250 screens. People are working on a designer in VS Code for i, however, I don't have information on when it is available. The other advantage to VS Code is cost. RDi does offer other powerful options, especially the free tool set of iSphere.

As for cost of RDI, be sure to ask your business partner about a trade-up for seats of ADTS (I believe this is right) to get a significant reduction (around 30%, IIRC) in purchase price of RDi seats.
