Searching a spooled file text file via CTRL-F is much easier (and faster)
than writing query after query over a pending job log. It also lets you
see the searched value in the context of the messages above and below.

Jim,
I agree with using the pending feature. I changed system value QLOGOUTPUT
over a decade ago.
However even those joblogs you need to have GO CLEANUP address them.

Yep, IDK why anyone would want to spool joblogs anymore. After all, if you
want to query a file do you do a CPYF OUTPUT(*PRINT) and then parse that
output or do you query the file directly? Much easier to read joblogs with
the following:

That’s one way but why create the job logs at all? Use the pending
feature

Our system has many QZDASIOINIT jobs running which are server by
profile QUSER and job QRWTSRVR.

QUSER has a jobd of QSFTJOBD and it is creating hundreds of job logs
for
normal ending filling up QEZJOBLOG.

We want to eliminate these disk suckers.

Best way?

Create new JOBD for those jobs and config JOBD not to create joblogs?

Thx,

Jerry
