Well, somebody said that "who will want to develop difefrent command prompt
for DOS" and I said that MiscroSoft did just that.
You remark about airplanes is very valid when you compare say Windows/NT to
DOS, but a difference between the very first Windows and DOS was *not* so
large as it might seem today.

I see a kind of irony here - Windows started as little more than "a
different command prompt" (GUI-ized) for DOS.
