Actually, it's now simply a pay now or pay later policy. As I read the
policy, you can either purchase a license and then pay them a "subscription
fee" and get later version "free". Or you can purchase a license, NOT pay
them for the subscription and buy another license later. They've done away
with "upgrade" licensing.

If you ask me, this is easier to manage and budget for. I know I'm paying MS
$x per year and I know that will cover upgrading my machines when the new
versions come out. I don't have to worry about when that it, or how much it
will be.

Isn't this the same as IBM's model on the iSeries?
