In the commercial where those hip, young, nutty Dell interns accidentally turn out the lights in the call center they neglected to mention that their internship had brought them to India (or was that the Philippines?). -Jim -----Original Message----- From: Mark Villa [mailto:markvilla@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, November 24, 2003 7:34 PM To: 'Non-Technical Discussion about the AS400 / iSeries' Subject: Dell service (again)-you were not the only one complaining (copied) OFF-SHORING TO INDIA BACKFIRES Following a deluge of customer complaints, Dell Computers has rescinded the routing of corporate calls to its customer service center in India. Not surprisingly, customers were outraged that "operators [were] difficult to communicate with because of thick accents and scripted responses," according to a NewsMax report. Dell is just one of many hi-tech companies that have been off-shoring jobs to India, presumably to cut costs. Sadly, though, despite this recent backlash against Dell, the company does not plan to scale-back any of its other Bangladore, India operations. Dell employs about 44,000 employees -- over 54% of which are foreigners overseas! My Summary; ..."dude, you're getting a Dell....better hope it does not break dude"
