There is something to be said about knowing ERP.  Before we did the 
upgrade from BPCS 405CD to Infor's ERP LX we put everyone through ERP 
training.  The training was not software specific.  Everyone went through 
the basics.  I don't care if you were a payroll clerk or whatever.  You 
went through basic ERP training.  Then the depth of the training increased 
based on job role.
And there was some change in personnel.  Sometimes a button pusher (take 
menu option 1 then ...) just doesn't hack it versus someone with 
university training in ERP.
After all the ERP training was done, then the software specific training 
began.
