One can be cautiously optimistic.

It looks like Microsoft is cohabiting at least with Open Source in general, opening up dot-net and Studio and all. Going for "cloud" business and ads. That was right after I told a Microsoft rep at SQL Saturday they were going to have to open-source everything eventually.

And with Github they get that revenue source, and maybe an easier sideways glance at both the open source and closed source therein residing.

Eternal vigilance and all...

Microsoft is acquiring GitHub. After reports emerged that the software giant was in talks to acquire GitHub, Microsoft is making it official today.
