1.Good advice, but I'd suggest that for installation of packages:
Always always always develop in a virtual environment

python -m venv my_virtual_environment --system-site-packages
*
source my_virtual_environment/bin/activate
2.
pip install someModule
3.
But always check for the module first via yum search because popular
hard-to-build modules are provided by IBM in the yum repo
